Talk To Him

Dear Readers

God will lead you to the right path.

Deuteronomy 3:2

The Lord said to me, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land.   - The Lord was leading the Israelities to the promised land. On the way, they had to go to war to pass the lands. The battles were not theirs, it belonged to the Lord. The Lord would always said to the Israelities not to be afraid for He had handed the enemies over to them. I am not asking you to go to war, I am asking you not to afraid when the Lord wants you to do something for He will have given you the victory to accomplish the task.

Deuteronomy 4:2

Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.   - The verse reminds me the way satan brought Eve to have the forbidden food. Commands from God are simple to understand. God listed out the ways we should lead our lives throughout the bible, in old and new testaments. I believe God's commands to us are to be carried out just like the way Moses commanded to the Israelities, "do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it."

Deuteronomy 4:15-19, 4:24

Idolatry Forbidden - 15 You saw no form of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, 16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, 17 or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, 18 or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. 19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

- Many Christians had fallen in one or another ways. They have not come to know God or they believe every beliefs are good. They do not understand that God wants our full attention. He is a jealous God.

Deuteronomy 4:25-31

25 After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time—if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God and arousing his anger, 26 I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed. 27 The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you. 28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. 29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.   - Deut 4:25-31 tells what lies ahead of the Israelities. We have the choice to believe or not to believe, to follow or not to follow this God who is our creator. I hope you choose to believe. If not, I question why. This God who created you, knows what you are deep in your thoughts and heart, than any one else. He will lead you to the right path if you surrender your life to Him; to allow Him to lead and mold you. Psalm 23:1-3 1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, 3He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Deuteronomy 4:32-35

The Lord is God - 32 Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of? 33 Has any other people heard the voice of God[a] speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived? 34 Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes? 35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.   - The Lord our God is our creator. Nothing is impossible with God. Put your faith in God and press on.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.   - Deuteronomy 6:5 will always be the 1st commandment from God to us. God loves us. He sent His only son to die on the cross to restore our relationship with Him. No matter you are young, old, rich or poor, He loves you and He wants you to love Him too.

Deuteronomy 6:18

18 Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors   - The Israelities were told to do what is right and good in the Lord's sight so that it may go well for them to occupy the promised land. This message of doing what is right and good in the Lord's sight still apply to our daily lives today. If we follow God's teaching, I believe we will not live to regret. May God's peace always be with you.

Deuteronomy 8:5

Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.   - Have you ever wondered why life is not a bed of roses and at times things didn't go well according to what you had in mind? Our almighty God is a big God. He knows what is best for you. You do not know what is installed for you in the future or tomorrow, but God knows. He loves us and He wants us to love Him back and follow His ways wholeheartedly.

Hymn: Trust and Obey - Words: John H. Sammis 1887 and Music: Daniel B. Towner 1887

1 When we walk with the Lord

in the light of his word,

what a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will,

he abides with us still,

and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey, for there's no other way

to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,

not a sorrow we share,

but our toil he doth richly repay;

not a grief or a loss,

not a frown or a cross,

but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]

3 But we never can prove

the delights of his love

until all on the altar we lay;

for the favor he shows,

for the joy he bestows,

are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet

we will sit at his feet,

or we'll walk by his side in the way;

what he says we will do,

where he sends we will go;

never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]

Deuteronomy 16:18-20

18 Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly. 19 Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent. 20 Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.   - I like this statement 'Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent.' It tells the truth of what bribery can do.

Deuteronomy 18:10-11

10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.   - Do not let your heart go astray from God.

Deuteronomy 20:1-4

1When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”   - Do you need encouragement to speak your mind or present to your audience, your managers, your coworkers, etc? Let Deut 20:1-4 to encourage you and ask God to go with you.

Deuteronomy 28:1-14

Blessings for Obedience

1If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.

You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.

12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

- Isn't it wonderful to be Israelities of that time? All they had to do was to obey God and they would be blessed abundantly. God has different plan for all of us. He will bless you too. You may have more or you may have less, but eventually all of us will meet in heaven to be with God for those who loves the Lord and follow Him. Let us be steadfast Christians. Not cold, not lukewarm but hot.

Deuteronomy 29:5

Yet the Lord says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.   - During the 40 years when the Lord led the Israelities in the wilderness, the Lord provided their needs. This is how caring God is. You are worshipping a God who loves and cares for you.

Deuteronomy 31:7-8, 31:23

Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

23 The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you.”

- The Israelities were going to enter the promised land and Moses was encouraging them to be strong and courageous. And the Lord commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous too. If there is a time you need courage, ask the Lord to give you courage and be with you.
